BLUES WIN BIG AT WESTERN

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team notched their first win of the season in defeating the Western Mustangs 7-3 on Friday night (Nov. 18) in London, Ont.

Second-year forwards Aidan Wallace and Max Lindsay paced the Blues in the win. Wallace notched one goal and two assists, with Lindsay scoring twice on the night.

Veteran forward Russell Turner opened the scoring just 2:11 into the game, wiring the puck into the top corner off a nice feed from team captain Charlie Connell. Wallace put the Blues up by two four minutes later off another nice pass from Connell and second-year standout Matt Campagna finished off a 2-on-1 with Connor Bebb at the 8:45 mark as the Blues took a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Western got on the board and brought the game within one (3-2) with two goals early in the second period, but Lindsay notched his first of the game at the 9:19 mark to put Toronto on top, 4-2, after 40 minutes.

Lindsay and veteran forward Casey Knight tallied two goals 14 seconds apart midway through the third period, and Ryan Kirkup added a shorthanded goal with less than five minutes remaining to round out the scoring and secure Toronto's first win of the season.

Blues netminder Andrew Hunt made 31 saves in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night (Nov. 19) as they travel to Waterloo, Ont., to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
