TURNER TALLIES TWO, BLUES FALL TO VOYAGEURS

Box Score The Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 4-2 to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday, November 13 at Varsity Arena.

The Voyageurs got on the score sheet very early, scoring 13 seconds in with a goal from senior Nick Esposto.

The Blues responded with a power play goal from veteran Russell Turner, who sniped the puck past the Voyageurs goalie Charlie Millen. Sophomore Matt Campagna got the assist after driving down the left side of the rink and passing it to Turner just before the hash mark.

The tie was short-lived though after the Voyageurs senior Vincent Llorca scored a shorthanded goal just over a minute later. Laurentian was up 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Third-year Voyageur Chris Smith scored another shorthanded goal for Laurentian off a break away about halfway into the second period, but Turner responded, scoring his second goal of the game off a rebound from sophomore Max Lindsay.

Laurentian led 3-2 heading into the final frame.

The Blues battled hard in the third to try and get the equalizer, but Laurentia'ns Richard Therrien scored an empty net goal with just about 30 seconds left in the game to solidify their win.

Blues goalie Evan Johnson posted 27 saves in his first OUA career start.

The Blues are back in action next Friday, November 18 to take on the Western Mustangs in London, Ontario. Puck drops at 7 pm.
