MACEACHERN SCORES BUT BLUES FALL

Box Score Despite outshooting the visiting Nipissing Lakers 41-31, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team were unable to earn their first win of the season dropping a 5-3 decision at Varsity Arena Saturday afternoon (Nov. 12).

After Lakers defenceman Taylor Davis opened the scoring just three minutes into the contest, Varsity Blues first-year defenceman Evan MacEacharn evened the score 1-1  just before the break, slipping a rebound past Nipissing goaltender Domenic Graham for his first career OUA goal.

However, two quick goals in the second from Cody Gratton and Guillaume Naud, followed by another pair in the third from Steve Deeg separated the Lakers from the Blues who were unable to keep up.

Veteran Blues forward Dean Klomp scored his third of the season just before the second intermission while captain Charlie Connell netted his fourth just past the midway mark of the third to round out scoring for U of T.

Toronto netminder Andrew Hunt made 26 saves while Graham stopped 38.

The Varsity Blues will have another chance to stop the slide tomorrow afternoon as they welcome the Laurentian Voyageurs to Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. with the game also being streamed live on OUA.tv.
