Box Score Second-year forward Charlotte Collyer notched a career-high 16 points in a 55-42 home-opener loss to the OUA defending champion Ryerson Rams on Friday night (Nov. 11) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

A native of Colleyville, Texas, Collyer went 7-for-12 from the floor while adding nine rebounds, three steals and one assist on the night.

Fourth-year guard Diedre Edwards added six points and five boards, while fellow veteran Emily Piccini also had six points. 2015-16 OUA all-star Rahshida Atkinson tallied five points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Sarah Bennett had five points, six boards and two steals in the loss.

Down 21-12 after the first quarter, the Blues came out on fire in the second, going on a 12-3 run to even the score at 24-24. The Rams rallied and took a narrow 31-29 lead into halftime.

Ryerson had another strong quarter to open the second half, outscoring the Blues 12-4 in the third to build a 43-33 advantage. U of T rallied with back-to-back buckets from Collyer and Atkinson to bring the game within six (46-40), but the Rams took over from there, ending the game on a 9-2 streak to seal the victory.

Third-year forward Sofia Paska led the Rams with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while C'airah Gabriel-Robinson had 10 points and six boards in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow as they travel to St. Catharines, Ont., to take on the Brock Badgers. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
