BLUES HOST LAKERS, VOYAGEURS AT VARSITY ARENA

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team hosts the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs to Varsity Arena this weekend (Nov. 12-13).

Advance tickets are on sale here with the games also being streamed live on OUA.tv. Puck drop for both contests are set for 4 p.m.

Both the Lakers and Voyageurs currently sit in the bottom half of the OUA East standing with Nipissing holding a 2-6-1 (W-L-OTL) record behind Laurentian at 4-5-1.

The Varsity Blues will first look to take advantage of a weak Lakers offence which ranks last in the OUA in goals scored this season, while also sitting last in goals against average.

Picking up their first career OUA goals in an exciting showdown this past weekend with rivals Ryerson Rams, first-year forwards Connor Bebb and Connor Graham have provided a spark to the U of T offence. Combined with second-year standouts Matt Campagna (0 G, 9 A) and Aidan Wallace (4 G, 3 A) the young Varsity Blues attack appears primed to continue its strong push on home ice.

Meanwhile, veteran goaltender Andrew Hunt has been an outstanding constant for the Blues in net, making at least one spectacular post-to-post effort in nearly every game this season. The fourth-year economics major sits eighth in the entire country in saves (245) and minutes (494:13) this season serving as a threat for every opponent who challenges U of T.

When taking on the Voyageurs Sunday afternoon the Blues will face a similar constant in Laurentian goaltender Charlie Millen. Starting five games this season Millen holds a .932 save percentage, good enough for third in the OUA, while also sitting at a 2.29 goals-against average which places him sixth in the province.

Following the home ice doubleheader the Varsity Blues will return to the road challenging the Western Mustangs and Laurier Golden Hawks next weekend (Nov. 18-19). The puck drops in London, Ontario at 7 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. start with Laurier. Both games will be streamed live on OUA.tv.
