Returning home to Varsity Arena this Friday, November 4 to take on the Brock Badgers, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team look to break out of their current slump using home ice advantage.
Â
Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale
here. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.
Â
Following a tough road trip, which featured losses to the RMC Paladins and Carleton Ravens last weekend, the Varsity Blues remain winless on the season with an 0-5-2 (W-L-OTL) record. U of T has lost by just one goal in five of those seven contests further illustrating the frustration to open the season.
Â
Despite the slow start, returning fourth-year goaltender Andrew Hunt has played remarkably well, ranking sixth in the entire country in saves with 191, including several OUA play-of-the-week efforts so far this season. Hunt also sits fourth in the OUA in minutes played this season for goalies making an appearance in six contests, while starting five.
Â
In front of Hunt, sophomore standouts Aidan Wallace and Matt Campagna have led the Blues offence. Wallace has shown himself to be particularly outstanding on the powerplay currently sitting tied for second in the province with three powerplay goals. Meanwhile, Campagna has stepped into a setup role recording an assist in five of the Blues seven games this season as he sits tied with Wallace for the team scoring lead with six points.
Â
The offence will be exceptionally important when taking on the Badgers as goaltender Clint Windsor has proven himself to be one of the best backstops in the province. Windsor currently ranks third in the CIS in save percentage (.951) and fourth in the OUA in goals against average (2.05). With three straight wins and two 40 save efforts over the past three games for Brock, solving Windsor will be paramount for the Blues in the Friday night showdown.
Â
Following their quick return home the Varsity Blues will remain in Toronto but play visitor to the Ryerson Rams on Saturday, November 5. Action is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with the game being streamed live on OUA.tv.
