BLUES COME BACK FALLS SHORT IN SEASON OPENER

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a narrow 3-2 decision in their season opener versus the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, October 7.
 
Down 3-0 after 40 minutes, fourth-year forward Dean Klomp got the Blues on the board 37 seconds into the third period. The goal was assisted by Matt Campagna and Aidan Wallace.
 
Sophomore standout Ryan Kirkup then brought the Blues within one with a powerplay marker, assisted by Josh Hanson and Klomp, at the 4:40 mark of the frame.
 
Toronto battled hard but was unable to find the back of the net again.
 
Andrew Hunt posted 28 saves in the loss. 
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Thursday, October 13 when they host the Waterloo Warriors in their home opener at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
