MEN’S HOCKEY FALLS TO RAVENS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped an 8-2 decision to the Carleton Ravens on Saturday, October 29 at the Ice House in Ottawa.

Carleton went 3-for-7 on the powerplay, with Brett Welychka scoring three of his four goals on the night on the man advantage, while Toronto was unable to convert on their five chances.

Fourth-year forward Russell Turner opened the scoring early in the first period, finding the top corner of the net off a 2-on-1 pass from Dean Klomp.

The Ravens evened the score quickly though as Hayden Hulton scored five-hole off a 2-on-1 opportunity six minutes later.

Toronto then found themselves in penalty trouble and Welychka took full advantage, scoring back-to-back powerplay goals 50 seconds apart to put the Ravens up 3-1.

Second-year Blues standout Max Lindsay brought the game within one, burying a Josh Hanson rebound, and Toronto trailed Carleton 3-2 after 20 minutes.

It was all Carleton from there though as they scored two in the second period and three in the third to secure the victory.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday night (Nov. 4) as they host the Brock Badgers at Varsity Arena. Advance tickets are on sale here.
