Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to the Lakehad Thunderwolves on Saturday night (Oct. 22) at Varsity Arena.

Lakehead opened the scoring midway through the first period as Cody Alcock wired a low shot into the bottom right corner of the net. The Thunderwolves were up 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.

The Blues evened the score just 2:45 into the second period when Josh Hanson skated in off the blue line and buried a Matt Campagna rebound on the powerplay.
The T-Wolves responded though as Brennen Dubchak tipped in a Matt Alexander point shot just over three minutes later.

U of T team captain Charlie Connell kept his team rolling as he sent a booming shot into the top corner of the net for another Blues powerplay goal at the 11:53 mark of the second period. The two teams were deadlocked at 2-2 at the end of the second frame.

The third period was back and forth as both teams had solid chances to score but both goaltenders came up with big saves. Lakehead was able to net the equalizer with 1:36 remaining as Carson Dubchak one-timed a cross crease pass into the net.

Blues netminder Andrew Hunt made 36 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Bleus return to action next Friday, October 28 as they travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the RMC Paladins. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
