Box Score Third-year netminder Andrew Hunt posted a season-high 54 saves and fourth-year forward Patrick Marsh scored twice as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the Windsor Lancers 3-1 on Friday night (Jan. 29) in Windsor, Ont.
With the win, the Blues improve to 10-12-2 and sit in eighth place, only four points out of third, in the OUA West division.
Marsh opened the scoring with a powerplay goal assisted by Connor Cleverley and Christian Finch midway through the first period. First-year forward Max Lindsay then potted his sixth goal of the season with 57 seconds remaining to give Toronto a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Marsh tallied his second goal of the game a team-leading 13th of the season just 2:42 into the second frame and Toronto held a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
Lancers forward Sebastian Beauregard spoiled the shut out with a goal early in the third period, but the Blues held on for the road victory.
Hunt made 25 of his 54 saves in the second period alone.
The Varsity Blues are back in action next Friday, February 5 as they host the Western Mustangs at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Â
