STORIED FOOTBALL RIVALS CLASH IN HALL OF FAME GAME

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team will host the Queen's Gaels Saturday, September 26 in their annual Hall of Fame game honouring the 1965 Yates and Vanier Cup championship team.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Advanced tickets are on sale here. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Blues be relying on home field advantage to help get them back on track after falling 19-15 to the Carleton Ravens last weekend, pushing their record to 1-2 on the season.

The hometown crowd will be needed in this crucial game as the Gaels will also be hungry to bounce back after a 48-25 loss to the Western Mustangs, sitting in sixth place in the OUA at 2-2.

Fifth-year quarterback Simon Nassar continues to lead the U of T offence, sitting fifth in the OUA and averaging 266 yards per game. The passing game will be critical in the matchup with Queen's, who currently have the worst passing defence in the OUA, giving up an average of 388 yards per game.

Nassar will look to continue to connect with his favourite target, fellow Lawrence Park Collegiate alumni Boris Isakov. Isakov has excelled in three games so far this season with 17 receptions, 223 yards, and a receiving touchdown.

As the offence looks to pick apart the opposition, the U of T defence will be in tough as they get set to face one of the best rushing teams in the country. Queen's running back Jesse Andrews sits atop the CIS with 75 caries for 583 yards.

With a strong offensive line creating running lanes, it will be up to the Toronto front seven to put a stop to him. Fourth-year linebacker Adrian Bernard leads the run defence after a strong game against the Carleton rushing attack, where he finished with 7.5 total tackles. Bernard currently has 20 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery on the season.

Following the clash at Varsity Stadium, U of T will next prepare to head to York University for the annual Red & Blue Bowl on Friday, October 2.
