FINCH’S COME BACK CUT SHORT

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday, November 13 at Countryside Arena.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 3-5-2 and sit ninth in the OUA West division, while the Voyageurs improve to 5-5-0 and are seventh in the East.

Laurentian opened the scoring, scoring two goals within 37 seconds late in the first period. Fourth-year forward Christian Finch got Toronto on the board 5:30 into the second frame, with a goal assisted by Andrew Doyle and Max Lindsay.

The Voyaguers led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Finch potted his second of the game with 4:49 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Unfortunately for the Blues, Laurentian's Sebastien Leroux netted the game winner at the 4:01 mark of the extra frame.

Third-year Blues goalie Michael Nishi made 31 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night (Nov. 14) as they travel to North Bay, Ont., to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
