BLUES FALL TO LIONS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the York Lions on Saturday, October 31 at Canlan Ice Sports.

The Lions opened the scoring 7:12 into the first period with a goal off the stick of Derek Sheppard. The Blues evened the score quickly though, as third-year forward Dean Klomp notched his second goal of the season three minutes later. The two teams were tied 1-1 at the first intermission.

York took the lead with a powerplay goal midway through the second period.

Third-year defenceman Charlie Connell evened the score with six minutes remaining in regulation, but the Lions answered right back as Justin Larson found the back of the net less than a minute later. York
added an empty-netter with 16 seconds to go to round out the win.

Fifth-year Blues netminder Brett Willows posted 31 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, November 6 when they host the Waterloo Warriors at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
