BLUES HOST HAWKS SATURDAY NIGHT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team hosts the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, October 17 at Varsity Arena.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Blues will be coming off a road game as the head to Waterloo to take on the Warriors on Friday night at 7 p.m. That game can also be seen live on OUA.tv.

Toronto is 1-1-0 to start the season after a 10-5 loss to the No. 8 UQTR Patriotes and 6-2 win over the Concordia Stingers.

Veteran forwards Patrick Marsh and Russell Turner led the Blues with two goals and two assists each on opening weekend. Team captain Andrew Doyle also scored two goals, while rookie forward Matt Campagna and third-year standout Connor Cleverley registered three points apiece in two games.

Third and fifth-year goalies Michael Nishi and Brett Willows split duties between the pipes last weekend. Nishi notched 34 saves in Toronto's win over Concordia, while Willows made 26 in their loss to UQTR.

Laurier is 1-0 in the early goings of the season, following a 3-2 overtime win over the York Lions last Saturday. Forward Mike Webley scored two goals in the win, with defenceman Matt Provost adding two assists. Vinny Merante got the start in goal, posting 37 saves on the night.

The Waterloo Warrriors are also 1-1 after edging the Brock Badgers 5-4 and falling to the Windsor Lancers 8-1 on the road. Tommy Tsicos leads the Warriors with one goal and two assists in two games. Mike Morrison started both games and holds a .862 save percentage.
