Over 3,500 elementary students will fill the seats of Varsity Arena this Tuesday, January 27 as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team hosts the Ryerson Rams in their annual Downtown Showdown Hockey School Day at Varsity Arena.

U of T has an action-packed day planned, starting when gates open at 10 a.m. Puck drop is set for 11 a.m. The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

Young students will have a chance to take part in pre-game science demonstrations with Pueblo Science from U of T's Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. Pueblo Science will also put on a special show during the second intermission. The Pizza Pizza fun zone will be set up in the stadium concourse and the always-favourite chuck-a-puck promotion is set for first intermission.

U of T and Ryerson mascots, True Blue beaver and Eggy the Ram, as well as Toronto Maple Leafs Carlton the Bear will also be on hand for in-game entertainment. Players will also be available for post-game autographs in the arena concourse.

The Varsity Blues are coming off two big wins this past weekend and are 10-11-1 in fifth place in the OUA West division. Fourth-year forward Jeff Brown is riding a nine-game point streak, having tallied seven goals and eight assists for 15 points.

The Ryerson Rams are 12-9-1 and sit in fourth place, four points ahead of the Blues. The Rams are coming off a 5-4 victory over Lakehead Saturday night.

The Blues defeated the Rams, 7-4, in their first meeting of the season two weeks ago.
