SHEEHAN SHINES IN WIN OVER YORK

Box Score Fifth-year netminder Garrett Sheehan made 39 saves in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team to a 3-2 win over the York Lions on Saturday, January 24 at Varsity Arena.

With the win, the Blues now stand 10-11-1 in fifth place in the OUA West division.

Fourth-year Blues forward Jeff Brown tallied one goal and one assist in the win, extending his point-streak to eight games.

U of T scored three first period goals, with Brown, Michael Markovic and Paul Van De Velde all beating York's Chris Perugini in the first 8:07 of the contest.

The Blues also honoured graduating athletes Cameron Bernier, Jeff Brown, Tyler Liukkonen, Michael Markovic, Garrett Sheehan, Paul Van De Velde, Tyler von Engelbrechten, Lane Werbowski and Marcus Yolevski in a special pregame ceremony.

The Varsity Blues return to the ice this Tuesday, January 27 as they host the Ryerson Rams in their annual Downtown Showdown School Day game at 11 a.m. at Varsity Arena.
