Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the Waterloo Warriors 4-2 on Friday night (Nov. 7) in Waterloo.
With the win, the Blues improve to 4-5-0 and sit tied for fifth place in the competitive OUA West division.
The Warriors opened the scoring 4:33 into the game with a goal off the stick of Joel Hoekstra and the home team went ahead by two when team captain Joe Underwood found the back of the net with five minutes to go in the first period.
The Blues got on the board when defenceman Corey Jackson slotted one past Warriors goalie Chris Hurry. Waterloo led 2-1 after the first period.
Toronto evened the score late in the second period with a powerplay goal from third-year defencemen Dylan Heide. The Blues went ahead with 56 seconds to go in the second frame when fourth-year assistant captain Jeff Brown notched the eventual game-winner.
Sophomore forward Casey Knight added an insurance marker late in the third period to round out the scoring.
Blues goalie Michael Nishi posted 36 saves in the win.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night as they host the No. 4 Windsor Lancers at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.Â
