HOLIDAY TOY TOSS THIS SATURDAY AT VARSITY ARENA

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team hosts the Guelph Gryphons and Laurier Golden Hawks as they cap off their fall schedule this weekend (Nov. 28-29) at Varsity Arena.

Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale here. Both games will also be streamed live via OUA.tv.

Saturday night's tilt versus Laurier marks U of T's third annual Holiday Toy Toss. Bring a plush toy to toss onto the ice during intermission. Spectators get FREE admission to the game with a toy donation and U of T students get a free chuck-a-puck for a chance to win great prizes! All toys collected will benefit the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish.

The Varsity Blues are 4-8-1 and in ninth place in the OUA West division; however, are only four points out of fifth. The Blues are coming off a 4-1 loss to the No. 9 McGill Redmen last Saturday night.

Four players lead the team with 11 points. Tyler Liukkonen, Jeff Brown and Dylan Heide have each tallied four goals and seven assists, while Christian Finch has notched three goals and eight assists.

Fifth-year forward Michael Markovic has scored a team-high six goals in 13 games.

Second-year netminder Michael Nishi has assumed a starting role and holds a .908 save percentage in nine games played.

The Guelph Gryphons, who are winless in their last six games, are 3-9-2 and in 10th place in the West, one point behind the Blues. They will be playing in their second game of the weekend, after facing Ryerson on Thursday night.

Third-year forward Niklas Huard leads the squad with six goals and five assists for 11 points. Keith Hamilton and Andrew DAgostini have split duties between the pipes and hold .894 and .907 save percentages, respectively, in seven starts.

The Laurier Golden Hawks are 5-8-0 and in eighth place, one point ahead of the Blues. Laurier is coming off a 6-5 double overtime win over RMC last Saturday night.

Veteran forward Tyler Stothers leads the team with nine goals and seven assists, while Zach Lorentz has notched five goals and 10 assists so far this season.

Rookie Harrison Pharoah has played in the last six games and holds a .905 save percentage.
