Box Score Fifth-year forward Michael Markovic scored Toronto's lone goal as the Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 3-1 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday night (Oct. 26) at Waterloo Recreation Complex.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 2-4-0 early in OUA West division action.
The Hawks opened the scoring midway through the first period with a goal off the stick of team captain Tyler Stothers.
Laurier carried that lead into the third period before Blues assistant captain and fifth-year forward Michael Markovic evened the scoring 4:49 into the frame.
The deadlock did not last long however, as Laurier's Matt Provost notched the eventual game-winner less than a minute later. Ryan Lopes scored with 2:26 to go in the game to round out the scoring.
Blues netminder Michael Nishi made 30 saves in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to the ice this Thursday, October 30 as they head to Guelph, Ont., for a tilt with the Gryphons. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
