BIG WEEKEND FOR MEN’S HOCKEY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team heads to Waterloo to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Thursday night, before hosting the Windsor Lancers on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 12) at 2 p.m. at Varsity Arena.

The Blues are 9-7-2 and sit in fifth place in the OUA West division. Toronto skated straight into the New Year and took on Lakehead in a double header weekend (Jan 3-4), falling twice to the No. 7 Thunderwolves.

Fourth-year forward Michael Markovic (Toronto) leads the team and ranks 11th in the province with 11 goals and 11 assists so far this season. Third-year standout Jeff Brown has also been making an impact up front for the Blues with eight goals and nine assists.

Netminder Brett Willows continues to be a force between the pipes for the Blues, holding a .921 save percentage.

The Lancers are 11-6-0 and sit in fourth place, two points ahead of Toronto. The trio of Spencer Pommells, MacAulay MacDonnell and Kenny Bradford, lead the Lancers attack having notched seven goals each.

Parker Van Buskirk has been the Lancers lead goaltender with a save percentage of .910.
