VOLLEYBALL SET FOR FINAL REGULAR SEASON HOME GAMES

The University of Toronto men's and women's volleyball teams will host their final home games of 2013-14 this weekend when the Brock Badgers and Guelph Gryphons visit the Athletic Centre Sports Gym on Saturday, February 1. The men then host the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday, February 2, in regular-season finale.

The Blues women will serve up the action first at 12 p.m on Saturday against the Badgers, followed by the men at 2 p.m when they face the Gryphons. U of T will honour the graduating athletes of both teams in special pre-game ceremonies.

The women will then go on the road on Sunday to take on the No. 7 Ottawa Gee-Gees at 2 p.m in the nation's capital, while the men host the No. 7 Warriors at 2 pm.

Toronto's women improved to 12-3 and sit in a three-way tie for first place in the OUA East with the York Lions and the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Fourth-year left-side hitter Charlotte Sider (Ottawa) notched a career-high 25 kills and seven digs in leading the Blues women's volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over the Western Mustangs on Sunday, Jan.26. Sider leads the Blues and ranks fifth in the OUA for kills with 172 and seventh for points with a total 201.

First-year standout Tessa Davis (South Surrey, B.C.) is a force at the net for Toronto and ranks third in the OUA with 41 blocks and has notched 95 kills so far this season, while fellow rookie Kate Lonergan (North Vancouver, B.C) continues to lead the team and the OUA in digs per set with 4.30.

The then No. 6 Gee-Gees will be looking to get even the season series after being defeated by the Blues in a close five-set match on January 18.

Toronto's men are 4-12 and sit in ninth place in the OUA standings heading into the weekend.

Veteran Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) is the Blues leader on offence, tallying 137 kills and 16 service aces, while rookie William Colucci (Toronto) has recorded 110 kills.

The Blues have been splitting setting duties between Michael Denton (Scarborough, Ont.) and Aleksa Miladinovic (Belgrade, Serbia). The pair has made 282 and 273 assists, respectively. Denton also leads the team in digs with 95.

In their first meeting this season the Blues were defeated by the Warriors 3-2 on November 8, before defeating the Gryphons 3-2 on November 9.
