The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team will host the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, February 1, and the women's team will hit the road to face the Windsor Lancers and the Western Mustangs.
The men host the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. at Varsity Arena Saturday night, while the women head to Windsor for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop on Friday January 31
st before travelling East to play the Mustangs at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Toronto's women, now No. 9 in the national rankings, are 15-5-1 and sit in fourth place in the OUA standings.Â
Second-year standout Taylor Day (Ilderton, Ont.) notched her 11
th goal of the season in the Blues loss to the number No. 3 Guelph Gryphons. Day has tallied eight assists and 19 points so far this season and ranks eighth on the OUA leaderboard.
Veteran Kelly O'Hanlon (Markham, Ont.) and rookie Courtney Brind'Amour-McClure (Waterdown, Ont.) have also been productive for the Blues. O'Hanlon leads the team in points with 20 (3 goals,17 assists), while Brind'Amour-McClure has notched eight goals and eight assists.
Fourth-year netminder Nicole Kesteris has a .945 save percentage, which puts her atop the OUA and fourth in the CIS in the category.
Toronto's men are 11-10-2 and sit in seventh place in the OUA West division.
Fourth-year forward Michael Markovic (Toronto) has netted 13 goals and 14 assists in leading the Blues offence. Markovic ranks 12th on the OUA leaderboard.
The Blues have also seen offensive success from third-year forward Jeff Brown (Toronto). Brown has tallied 10 goals and 10 assists in the season so far.
In their first meeting this season, the Blues defeated the Hawks 3-2 on January 9.
