Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 7-1 to the first-place Western Mustangs on Friday, January 24 in London, Ont.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 11-9-2 and sit in fifth place, while the Mustangs improve to 16-6-0 and sit atop the OUA West division
Western opened the scoring late in the first period on a powerplay goal by Kyle De Coste, but the Blues battle back and evened it up with an unassisted tally from Paul Van De Velde midway through the second period.
The Mustangs quickly struck back, scoring three goals in under four minutes to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. Western added three unanswered goals in the third to round out the 7-1 victory.
Blues netminder Brett Willows (Rivers, Man.) posted 24 saves in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night as they host the Brock Badgers (10-9-3) at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
