VOLLEYBALL TO HOLD COURT THIS WEEKEND

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues volleyball teams are serving up the action at home this weekend (Jan. 25-26) as part of Think Pink Week, in the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.

The Blues will take on the Windsor Lancers on Saturday before donning pink for their match against the Western Mustangs. The men will start at 12 p.m. followed by the women at 2 p.m. on both days.

Former Varsity Blues women's volleyball player Olivia St-Jean is set to cut her hair for charity as part of the Think Pink festivities during the second set break on Sunday. 

Toronto improved to 10-3 and sit in third place in the OUA East division after winning a five-set thriller against the ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees.

The Blues offence has been a growing force, led by veteran Charlotte Sider (Ottawa, Ont.) who has tallied 137 kills, 133 digs and 15 serving aces. Sider ranks number nine in the OUA in kills. Fellow veteran, Jennifer Neilson (Port Coquitlam, B.C.), has also been central to the Toronto attack notching 119 kills and 12 serving aces.

Setters Malena Rapaport (Vancouver, B.C.) and Madelyn Mandryk (Lockport, Man.) have been consistent at the net, posting 219 and 116 assists, respectively.

Rookie Kate Lonergan (North Vancouver, B.C.) continues to lead the OUA and ranks fourth in the CIS with 4.38 digs per set. First-year Tessa Davis (South Surrey, B.C.) has also made waves in her first season with Blues and is currently fourth in the OUA with 33 blocks.

Toronto's men are 4-10 and sit in ninth place in the OUA standings. The team fell short against the No. 1 McMaster Marauders last Saturday but will be looking to defend their home court this weekend.

Veteran Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) leads the Blues attack with 117 kills and 15 serving aces, while rookie William Colucci (Toronto) has notched 96 kills in just 30 games.

Setter Michael Denton (Scarborough, Ont.) has been valuable on court for Toronto tallying 260 assists and 78 digs. Denton is ranked number 10 in the OUA in this category.
