BLUES HEAD INTO PLAYOFFS ON A HIGH NOTE

Box Score The Varsity Blues men’s hockey team snapped a seven-game drought with a 2-1 win over the Concordia Stingers as their 2012-13 regular season came to an end on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 9) at Ed Meagher Arena in Montreal.
 
The Blues end the season with a 13-9-6 record in fifth place in the OUA East and will take on the fourth-seeded Ottawa Gee-Gees (16-8-4) best-of-three series starting this week. Schedule TBA. 
 
Michael Markovic and Lane Werbowski scored two goals 1:42 apart midway through the first period. Concordia’s Dany Potvin brought the game within one early in the second period.
 
Sophomore netminder Brett Willows (Rivers, Man.) posted 26 saves in the win.
