M-VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFF PREVIEW: TORONTO AT WATERLOO

The Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team takes on the No. 10 Waterloo Warriors in OUA quarter-final action this Saturday, February 16 in Waterloo, Ont.
 
The game will be streamed live via SSN Canada starting at 7 p.m.
 
Toronto earns their first post-season berth since 2010, finishing tied for sixth place with the Ryerson Rams (7-11). The Rams edged the Blues for the sixth spot, based on head-to-head point differential.
 
The Warriors finished in second place with a 14-4 record, six points behind the McMaster Marauders (17-1). Toronto went 0-2 versus Waterloo in the regular season, falling 3-0 on Nov. 24 and Jan. 26.
 
The Blues and Warriors have met four times during the OUA playoffs, all in OUA championship matches. Toronto is 4-0 versus Waterloo in the post-season, having won the 1983, 1985, 1988 and 1995 OUA titles over the Warriors.
 
Fifth-year right side hitter Mitchell Woodside (Clyde River, P.E.I.) led the Blues through the regular season and ranked ninth in the OUA, averaging 3.01 kills per set.  Fellow veterans Jonathan Adomait (Dundas, Ont.) and Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) posted 2.03 and 2.05 kills per set, respectively.
 
Team captain and Scarborough, Ont., native Michael Denton has posted 8.91 assists, while libero Matthew Vares (Toronto) put up 2.00 digs per set this season.
 
Fiodar Kazhamiaka led the Warriors with 2.98 kills, while Zachary Doherty averages 2.69 kills per set. Libero Erich Woolley led the OUA with 2.97 digs, while Jordan Dyck ranked second in the province with 0.75 blocks per set.
