BLUES EDGED BY GAELS ON THE ROAD

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 3-1 to the Queen's Gaels on Friday night (Nov. 8) at Kingston Memorial Centre.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 5-4-0, while the Gaels improve to 4-1-3 on the year.

Third-year forward Paul Van De Velde of Mariapolis, Man., opened the scoring for the Blues midway through the first period with a goal assisted by Jeff Brown and Tyler Liukkonen.  Toronto held the 1-0 lead after the first period.

The Gaels rallied and notched the equalizer and go-ahead goals in the first six minutes of the second period.

Queen's outshot the Blues 11-8 in the final frame and added an empty-netter with seven seconds remaining to secure the 3-1 victory.

Blues goalie Garrett Sheehan of Cremona made 26 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues look to bounce back tomorrow night as they travel to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
