BLUES COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN SHOOTOUT LOSS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 4-3 in a shoot out to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday, November 23 at Countryside Arena in Sudbury.

Despite the loss, the single point moves the Blues into sole possession of first place in the OUA West division.

After a scoreless first period, Laurentian's Jordan Carroll opened the scoring 1:48 into the second. Sophomore defenceman Dylan Heide responded with a goal off a point shot midway through the second, but the Voyageurs added two quick goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third frame.

Michael Markovic scored his 11th goal of the season to bring the game within one 9:58 into the third and fellow assistant captain Jeff Brown potted the equalizer with 6:14 remaining in regulation to force extra time. Laurentian out shot the Blues 4-3 in overtime and went onto win it 3-2 in a five-round shoot out.

Blues netminder Brett Willows made 22 saves in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to action this Friday, November 29 as they host the Concordia Stingers at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
