BLUES COMPLETE FOUR-POINT WEEKEND

Box Score The Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the RMC Paladins 4-1 on Saturday, November 16 at Varsity Arena.
With the win, their third straight, the Blues improve to 8-4-0 and move into third place in the OUA East division.

Second-year forward Tyler von Engelbrechten opened the scoring as he tapped in a Michael Markovic rebound just 37 seconds into the game.  The Blues held the 1-0 lead after the first period.

Rookie defenceman Corey Jackson extended the lead 3:11 into the second period as he one-timed a Paul Van De Velde pass into the bottom right corner of the net.

Fellow first-year blue liner Charlie Connell notched his first goal as a Varsity Blue 10 minutes later on the powerplay as he buried a rebound off the back post.

RMC spoiled the shut out with just under five minutes remaining, but Andrew Doyle added a late tally in the final seconds of play to secure the 4-1 victory.

Third-year Blues netminder Brett Willows (Rivers, Man.) made 22 saves in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, November 22 as they head to North Bay, Ont., to take on the Nipissing Lakers. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
