BLUES BLANKED BY BADGERS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Brock Badgers on Wednesday night (Oct. 23) at Seymour Hannah Centre in St. Catharines, Ont.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 3-2-0 and remain in a five-way tie for second place in the OUA West division.

The Badgers opened the scoring 6:06 into the game with a goal off the stick of Daniel Zweep. The Blues then found themselves in penalty trouble and Brock took full advantage.

Johnson Andrews scored just over two minutes later, while Ryan Purvis extended the Badgers lead to three off a rebound on a 5-on-3 advantage. Brock led 3-0 after the first period.

The Blues attempted to rally in the second, but were unable to solve Badgers goalie Dalton McGrath despite outshooting them 20-5.

Matt Abercrombie padded their lead 2:44 into the third period, Dylan MacEachern added another off a rebound off the back post and Andrews added his second of the game on a breakaway with eight seconds to go.

Blues netminder Brett Willows posted 13 saves, while Garrett Sheehan made 11 in his relief time in the third period.

The Varsity Blues return to action this Saturday, October 26 as they head to York to take on the Lions. The game will be streamed live, starting with puck drop at 7 p.m.
