PLAYOFF POSITIONING ON THE LINE THIS WEEKEND

The No. 7 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team heads into battle as they travel to take on East-division rivals Ottawa Gee-Gees and the Carleton Ravens this weekend (Oct. 19-20).

Toronto will face the Gee-Gees first on Saturday at 6 p.m., followed by the Ravens on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on SSN Canada with links through varsityblues.ca.

The Blues sit with a 9-2-3 record in second place in the OUA East division, three points behind the No. 1 Gee-Gees and two points ahead of the third-place Ravens. This weekend's matches will determine who finishes in the top two and earns a bye into the OUA quarter-final round.

Toronto has moved up the CIS rankings, jumping from No. 10 to No. 7, after securing a 1-1 tie with the Queen's Gals and blanking the RMC Paladins 2-0 at home last weekend. Toronto is undefeated in the past 12 games, with their last losses coming at the hands of Ottawa and Carleton on opening weekend.

The Gee-Gee's (10-1-3) win streak came to an end when the Ravens took home a convincing 4-1 win on Saturday. It was the first time the Ravens had ever beaten the Gee-Gees in a 20-year history of head-to-head competition.

Toronto's men also wrap up their 2013 regular season versus Carleton on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. The Blues are riding a three-game win streak and have jumped into third place in the East with a 5-4-4 record; however, U of T can finish as high as third or low as fifth heading into the last weekend of action.  Sunday's match will also be streamed live on SSN Canada.

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 CIS women's soccer championship, November 7-10, at Varsity Centre.
