BLUES BOUNCE BACK WITH WIN OVER BADGERS

Box Score Five different players scored as the Varsity Blues men’s hockey team notched a 5-2 win over the Brock Badgers on Saturday, November 9 at Seymour-Hannah Centre.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to 6-3-1 and move into sole possession of second place in the OUA East division.
 
U of T got out to a quick two-goal lead after third-year forward Blake Boddy of Scarborough, Ont., opened the scoring just 39 seconds into the contest, and Michael Markovic notched his third goal of the season just six minutes later.
 
The Badgers got on the board with less than five minutes remaining as U of T held a 2-1 lead after the first period of play.
 
Sophomore forward and Blues leading scorer Jeff Brown (Toronto) extended the lead to two with the lone goal of the second periodm, wiring a shot into the top corner of the net.
 
Sophomore standout Paul Van De Velde tallied Toronto’s second powerplay goal of the night early in the third period. The Badgers would add one more, but an Andrew Doyle empty-netter would secure the three-goal win.
 
Blues netminder Brett Willows (Rivers, Man.) made 37 saves in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to the ice next Friday, November 16 as they travel to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
