The No. 10 Varsity Blues men’s hockey team takes on the CIS defending champion McGill Redmen and the OUA East leading UQTR Patriotes on the road this weekend (Nov. 23-24).
The Blues are 7-3-2 and sit one point behind the first-place and No. 5 Patriotes (8-3-1). The Redmen are 6-5-0 and tied for sixth place, but only three points back of third in the OUA East standings.
U of T’s Brett Willows (Rivers, Man.) currently leads all CIS netminders with a 0.947 save percentage. He, along with third-year goalie Garrett Sheehan, have helped Toronto to an OUA East-low 29 goals against this season.
Second-year forward Jeff Brown is Toronto’s top point-getter, with eight goals and seven assists in 12 games. Veteran Kyle Ventura (Scarborough, Ont.) also has eight goals, while Blake Bloddy has a team-high 10 assists so far in 2012-13.
The Blues return home the following weekend (Nov. 30-Dec. 1) when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Concordia Stingers at Varsity Arena.
