The Varsity Blues football team looks to keep their playoff hopes alive as they vie for their fifth consecutive Argo Cup in the 2012 edition of the Red & Blue Bowl on Saturday, October 13 at Varsity Centre.

The Varsity Blues (2-4) are coming off a disappointing 34-6 loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees (1-5) last Saturday, while the Lions (1-5) fell to the No. 1 McMaster Marauders (6-0) 54-14 under the lights last Thursday at York Stadium.
Toronto holds a 26-16-0 head-to-head record over their York counterparts since their first meeting in 1970.
Sophomores Simon Nassar and Richard Quittenton have split quarterbacking duties thus far this season and need to be sharp this weekend to secure a win over their cross-town rivals. Rookie Ashton Nelson will look to hit the ground running after a season-low 25 rushing yards last week. The Brampton, Ont., native has rushed for over 100 yards in 4-of-6 starts and ranks fourth among OUA running backs so far this season.
Second-year linebacker Dylan Gordon leads the Blues with 33.5 tackles, while Kevin Bradfield is the top ranked OUA punt returner (282 yards) and second ranked kick returner (398 yards) over six games.
York is led by fourth-year veteran Myles Gibbon, who currently sits fourth among OUA quarterbacks with 1392 passing yards. His favourite target has been Jonelle Tolbert, who averages 12.97 yards per catch. The Lions' lone win of 2012 came in a 47-26 win over the Gee-Gees in Week 2.
