The Varsity Blues men’s hockey team dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the 16th annual Minor Hockey Night on Saturday, November 26 at Varsity Arena.
Ottawa (10-4-2) opened the scoring with just over four minutes remaining in the first period with a goal from fourth-year forward Matthieu Methot; however, the Blues (7-5-3) quickly responded with an even strength goal from Kyle Ventura (Scarborough, Ont.).
The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the second period.
The Gee-Gees notched the eventual game-winner on the powerplay when Patrick Burns found a hole past Blues goalie Garrett Sheehan 7:22 into the second frame.
Despite their best efforts, the Blues were unable to find the back of the net again.
The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, December 2 when they travel to Oshawa, Ont., to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
