BLUES FALL TO RMC 4-2

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s hockey team fell 4-2 to the RMC Paladins on Friday, February 6 at Varsity Arena.

Jeff Oke (Grand Bend, Ont.) opened up the scoring for the Paladins seven minutes into the first period. Blues leading scorer Byron Elliott (Burlington, Ont.) answered back on a powerplay opportunity to tie things up 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The Paladins strong second period would eventually secure their eighth win of the season as they scored two powerplay goals and an even-strength marker.

Richard Lim (Calgary, Alta.) tallied on a Paladins man advantage 49 seconds into the period, and Luke Pierce (Merritt, B.C.) added another six minutes later. Oke would add some insurance with his second goal of the game with less than a minute remaining to give RMC a three-goal lead going into the final frame.

First-year forward Bryden Teich (Toronto) notched the Blues second goal five minutes into the third period. Toronto would not solve Paladins goaltender Adam Briggs (Wallace, N.S.) again and fell 4-2.

Briggs stopped 37 shots in the RMC victory.

The Varsity Blues return to action on Sunday, February 8 when they travel to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees. The puck drops at 2 p.m.
