BLUES RUN FOR THE CURE

Members of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball and cheer team took to the streets to helped raise money for breast cancer research as they took part in the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 4 in downtown Toronto.

Nick Snow (London, Ont.), Justin Holmes (Toronto), Drazen Glisic (Sarajevo, BIH), Patrick Sewell (London, Ont.) and assistant coach Mike DeGiorgio got up really early on Sunday morning to run 5km race to help the Varsity Blues program raise funds for the third annual Think Pink weekend.

“This was a great way for us to contribute to the women’s [basketball team] Think Pink weekend,” said DeGiorgio. “It’s always important to take some time away from the gym and get involved and give back to the community.”

Cheer squad member Lisa Melymuk (Toronto) also participated in the run, while other members of the pom and cheer squad rooted on all participants as they passed the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus.

“We all have moms, sisters or aunts that we love,” commented Snow. “Fighting breast cancer is important to us because you never know when it could affect any of them.”
