University of Toronto running back Adam Williams has been named the Varsity Blues athlete of the week for the period ending August 28.Â
Kicking off the season in Kingston against the defending OUA East champion, Queen’s Gaels, the Oshawa, Ont., product created positive yards every time he touched the ball.

Although the final score wound up 47-25, the game was just a one-possession contest with less than seven minutes to play, with the fourth-year kinesiology student being a big reason why.
Carrying the ball eight times, Williams ran for 58 yards, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. His biggest play, however, came through the air. During the second quarter, Williams leaked out of the backfield for a 10-yard touchdown reception, breaking multiple tackles on his way to the goal line.
Williams and the Blues will continue their schedule on Sunday when they welcome the Carleton Ravens for their home opener.
