A second-year forward from Kitchener, Ont., Sam McCrory scored the game-winning goal in the Varsity Blues field hockey team’s 3-0 OUA final victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon at Back Campus.

The kinesiology major, who also led the entire league in scoring during the regular season, received a nice pass from Mia Zurkovic before firing a reverse shot into the bottom right corner of the net in the fourth minute of the game.
Â
McCrory was a key player as the Blues won their first OUA title since 2016 and 33rd program history. U of T will now host McCrory’s former team, the Victoria Vikes, in a best-of-three series for the U SPORTS national title next weekend.
