Kylie Masse was named the 2017 U SPORTS female swimmer of the year for the second consecutive season in leading the Varsity Blues to a bronze-medal finish at the national championships in Sherbrooke, Que., this past weekend.

Masse completed the backstroke sweep for the second consecutive year. The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist from LaSalle, Ont., broke U SPORTS records in the 50 (26.53), 100 (56.80) and 200 (2:06.18) backstroke events over the three-day meet.

The third-year kinesiology major also earned the women’s 200 IM silver medal, finishing just .27 seconds behind fellow 2016 Olympian Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson of UBC.

A 2017 U SPORTS all-Canadian, Masse also helped the Blues to three bronze medals in the 4x100 medley and 4x100 and 4x200 freestyle relay events.
