First-year standout runner Lucia Stafford did not disappoint in leading the Varsity Blues women's cross country team to a fifth-place team finish at this past weekend's national championship in Quebec City.
 
Stafford was the first rookie and sixth runner to cross the finish line in 21:34.0, earning 2016 U Sports rookie of the year honours, while also being named an all-Canadian.
 
She becomes the first Varsity Blue to earn national rookie of the year honours in cross country since Tamara Jewett took home the honour in 2008.
