Second-year forward Meagan O’Brien scored three goals in leading the No. 6 nationally ranked Varsity Blues women’s hockey team to two big wins over the weekend (Jan. 29-30).
A Human Biology and Bioethics major, O’Brien scored both goals as Toronto upset the No. 6 Western Mustangs, 2-1, on Friday night at Varsity Arena. The Brampton, Ont., native opened the scoring just 2:52 into the game, tipping a Cristine Chao point shot past CIS all-Canadian goaltender Kelly Campbell. She then put the Blues ahead for good, burying a rebound, with 1:34 remaining in the second period.
O’Brien followed that up by notching the game-tying goal in a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime victory over the Windsor Lancers on Saturday night.
