A seven-year veteran of the Varsity Blues and a PhD candidate in sociology, Laura Upenieks helped her team to two wins on the golf course this week.

The Etobicoke, Ont., native finished first individually at the Waterloo Invitational, shooting a 156 (81,75) to claim the top spot. The Blues won the tournament with a combined team score of 487, six strokes ahead of the Western Mustangs.

Upenieks also tied for second individually at the Allegheny Invitational, Sept. 27-28, in Meadville, Pa. She shot a 155 (74,81) as the Blues finished six shots ahead of the second-place Gannon team.
