Second-year standout Eli Wall was named the CIS male swimmer of the year in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to a second-place finish at the national championship this past weekend (Feb. 19-21) in Victoria.

A CIS first team all-Canadian, Wall won two individual titles, claiming both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. The Ottawa native and genome biology major clocked 1:02.44 in the 100-metre event, while touching the wall in 2:14.34 in the 200.

Wall also helped U of T's men to a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay on Day 3 and further contributed to Toronto's team silver medal, winning the 50 breaststroke B final in 29.13, while also placing 11th in the 200 IM with at time of 2:08.56.
