Second-year standout Zain Manji claimed the No. 1 men’s singles title at the 2013 OUA tennis championships this past weekend (Oct. 11-13) hosted by York University.
Manji, last year's OUA male rookie of the year and silver medalist, defeated Waterloo's Vincent Chan 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in the gold-medal match to claim the title. The computer science and economics major was also named an OUA all-star for his efforts.
A native of Ajax, Ont., Manji dominated his earlier opponents, defeating UOIT’s Anirudh Thommandrum 6-0, 6-0 in the first round, before topping Montreal’s Colomban Bounine 6-2, 6-1 in semi-final action.
