Fifth-year midfielder Hannah Tighe scored four goals in leading the CIS defending champion Varsity Blues field hockey team to three dominant wins in their 2011 opening weekend.

The Penticton, B.C., native scored one goal in each of Toronto’s wins on Friday at McGill Stadium.  The Blues shut out the Queen’s Gaels 6-0 before another lopsided 8-0 victory over the York Lions.

A two-time CIS all-Canadian, Tighe then added two markers in a 3-1 win over the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday afternoon in Guelph, Ont.

A fifth-year European studies major, Tighe is now tied for second in OUA scoring with teammates Kaelan Watson and Alexandra Evanyshyn.

Honourable mentions: Taryn Grieder scored nine goals as women's lacrosse went 1-1-1 this weekend.  Diana Eseireiro scored two goals in leading women's soccer to a 3-0 win over Ryerson on Sunday.
