Zack Chetrat broke three individual records and anchored a record-breaking relay en route to four gold medals to lead the Varsity Blues to their eighth consecutive title at the 2011 OUA swimming championships, February 10-12, in Guelph, Ont.
 
The Oakville, Ont., native opened the three-day meet by breaking a 21-year-old record in the men’s 400 freestyle in a time of 3:51.59. He went on to better his own previous record by over a second in the 200 butterfly (1:59.25).
 
The third-year economics and political science student broke his third individual OUA record when he topped Brad Vanderkamp’s 2004 mark (53.89) with a time of 53.86 seconds in the men’s 100-metre butterfly on Saturday.
 
Chetrat was also an integral member of Toronto’s record-breaking 800 freestyle relay team, who finished with a time of 7:27.15. He placed fifth in the men’s 200 backstroke (2:02.80) and was a member of the Blues 400 medley relay team that placed fourth.
