University of Toronto Varsity Blues swimming standout Kylie Masse placed second overall as a member of Team Canada's 4x100 medley relay team as the 2016 FINA world short course championships concluded on Sunday night in her hometown of Windsor, Ont.

Masse led off with a time of 56.29 in the backstroke, with Canada amassing a national record time of 3:48.87 to claim the silver medal.

The third-year kinesiology major, who won the 100 backstroke bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio this past summer, ends her first world championships with two medals, having qualified for four finals.

The hometown hero kicked off the championships with a silver-medal performance in the 100 backstroke on Wednesday night, while also helping Canada to a fourth-place finish in the 4x50 medley relay. She placed eighth in the 50 backstroke on Saturday evening and caps off the week holding four Canadian short course records (50 back, 100 back, 4x50 medley relay, 4x100 medley relay).
