Jenessa joined the Varsity Blues women's soccer coaching staff in 2011 after five years with the team. 

During her time at U of T, she was selected as the recipient of the coaches award in 2009 for her outstanding achievements in the classroom and her leadership and dedication on the women's varsity soccer team.

Banwell was also the recipient of the Helen Gurney award in 2010 for her leadership, academic achievement and excellence in athletics. A two-time OUA all-star, Banwell received the Juri V. Daniel in-course scholarship for academic excellence and leadership in 2010.

She has led numerous clinics and camps as a part of the women’s soccer team’s outreach programs, and was also the program director at Christie Kicks Soccer, a local development organization for kids aged 5-13.
