Fatih Akser is entering his first season with the Blues. He graduated from Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus in 1999 with a Business Administration degree and is a certified NCCP Level 4 coach and is currently finishing his Level 5 training. He is also a trained NCCP Learning Facilitator.

Akser served as the lead assistant coach at Ryerson University from 2009-12 and before that as an assistant coach at Brock University from 2008-09, Centennial College from 2005-06, and St. Catharines CVI from 2006-08.

He has been a head coach of Ontario Basketball’s Centre for Performance (CP) in Toronto and Canada Basketball’s Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS) youth development program since 2009. He has also been serving as the lead assistant coach of the U17 boy's provincial team since 2010, having won silver in 2010 and gold medals in 2011 and 2012 at the Canada Basketball national championships.

Akser was part of the 2010 U18 junior men’s national team, which won a bronze medal at the U18 World Cup FIBA America Qualifiers in San Antonio, Texas. That summer he also started to work as a video coordinator with the Canadian senior men’s national team and represented Canada at the 2010 FIBA world championship in Turkey and the 2011 FIBA Americas Olympic qualifiers in Argentina.Â
